For a watch that began life as a model designated for graduating students (hence Campus), the Club Campus has seemingly transitioned into NOMOS' flagship model. The past few years have seen the family go from a versatile only reference to a collection of watches with bold expressions, metal bracelets, and even 200m of water resistance.

This time last year, the pastel tones of Cream Coral and Electric Green joined the family (you can check out my thoughts and images of those two right here), but NOMOS has changed things up a little and gone punchy this year.

The NOMOS Club Campus Nonstop Red And Endless Blue

Now you've familiarised yourself with last year's colourful Club entries, don't expect to find words such as 'reserved' or 'soft' for these new editions, as NOMOS favour 'striking' and 'powerful' this year. Hyperboles aside, the Club Campus 2024 comes in two colours: Nonstop Red and Endless Blue. The red gives off a bold emergency red tone that's tastefully accented with instants of light blue for the seconds track and surrounds of the hour markers (Roman, Arabic, and batons make an appearance as always).

On the other hand, the Endless Blue is pure poolside summertime, with the markers accented in light pink and the orange second hand jumping out of the dial much more than the red. There are many things to compliment NOMOS for, but one of the most underappreciated factors is its understanding of the importance of sizing. Firstly, the brand doesn't offer women's and men's watches; instead, it prioritises the pairing of proportions and design. Let me explain. Whether you go for the 36mm versions of these two models or the larger 38.5mm, the watches remain the same from a design perspective. Apart from the reduced proportions, there's no way to tell which is the smaller model and which is the larger.

It's crazy that this isn't the norm for every watch brand, but it should be. NOMOS has been ahead of the curve on this front, and while I hope more brands follow suit soon, NOMOS deserves the credit here.

nomos alpha calibre

As is tradition, these new references are all powered by the Alpha NOMOS calibre that boasts 43 hours of autonomy, Glashütte ribbing, perlage, tempered blue screws, and rhodium-plated surfaces – it's dependable excellence by NOMOS that delivers without a hiccup. The NOMOS Alpha calibre is also pivotal in achieving the slender profiles of the 36mm and 38.5mm models, measuring only 8.2mm and 8.5mm thick, respectively.

The NOMOS Club Campus Nonstop Red And Endless Blue starts at £1,300 for the Red 716 36mm and maxes out at £1,600 for the Blue 724.GB with the display caseback option selected.

First Thoughts

You'll have to jump two years back to the Campus Future Orange and Deep Pink Club of 2022 to encounter the last time we received dials as punchy as these for the Club Campus, making these very welcome additions from my perspective. I enjoy how NOMOS not only plays with the colours in which their design language can be interpreted but also with the shades of those colours. Between the Nonstop Red and the Endless Blue, it's the latter that is going to be the more versatile choice for many, but if this tone of red speaks to you, you'll be hard-pressed to find a watch built to the quality NOMOS expects with a dial colour quite like this.

However, the point I started this breakdown with is a development I find the most interesting over the past few years with NOMOS. How the Club Campus, a watch initially pitched as an entry point to the brand, has become their main focus point. There will be many newer collectors out there who know NOMOS more for the Club than the Tangente, and understanding the brand's history, I find that point fascinating. Few watchmakers devote as much creative output to their entry-level model, and for that, NOMOS deserves credit.
