DESIGNED TO CELEBRATE THE JOY OF MECHANICS.

After the runaway success of the Oris Calibre 400 which was announced in 2020, the Hölstein based watchmaker has been steadily introducing the 5 day calibre into more if its product lines, and today we see a new ProPilot X powered by what Oris calls, The New Standard.

When the original ProPilot X was released, it measured in at 44mm in diameter - a reasonably large watch by today's standards, but certainly not unwearable with its lightweight and angular design. The ProPilot X Calibre 400 may be a welcomed addition for some however, with a trimmed down 39mm case, we should see a lot more wrists able to accommodate this power-house calibre 400 pilots watch. Crafted in lightweight titanium, the aviation inspired design has a mixture of satin and sand-blasted finishing to give it a raw and technical look, which is greatly emphasised with its oversized crown and matching titanium bracelet. The most notable difference from the original ProPilot X is the option to choose from three bright coloured dials: grey, blue and salmon, all of which have been chosen to bring life to your wrist and increase the case's dynamic proportions.

Calibre 400

Whether it's the grey, blue or salmon dial you choose, this isn't the only joyful experience of ownership with a PropPilot X Calibre 400. In turning the watch over you are greeted with the purposefully industrial Calibre 400 through a sapphire case back. Conceived entirely in-house by the skilled engineers at Oris, this new generation of automatic calibre is highly anti-magnetic, with many components engineered using non-ferrous and anti-magnetic components.

Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 Movement

In testing, the Calibre 400 deviated by less than 10 seconds a day after exposure to 2,250 gauss. For context, to qualify as an anti-magnetic watch it must be accurate to within 30 seconds a day after exposure to 200 gauss.

With two extended mainsprings housed via twin barrels, the Calibre 400 is able to produce a massive 5 days of power reserve - perfect for any watch collector who likes to rotate their watches. Oris is so confident in the performance of the Calibre 400 that they will offer a 10-year warranty on all Oris watches powered by the new movement when they're registered at MyOris.com.
