Introducing | The NOMOS Glashütte Tangente Neomatik Platinum Gray
After a successful 2021, NOMOS Glashütte's intent to continue that momentum is clear with the understated class and effortless elegance of this first 2022 release. Thirty years on from the original release of the iconic Tangente model, the Glashütte based watchmakers are introducing a simple but welcomed upgrade in the form of the Tangente Neomatik Platinum Gray.
More Cool, More Style!
The iconic design characteristics of the Tangente remain with its graceful Arabic numerals, small seconds sub-dial, and slim coin-shaped steel case. But what sets this new Tangente apart from its predecessors is its rhodium plated dial and hands. The platinum based metal provides the striking grey hue to the dial with the needle-thin hands playing in harmony with the design, whilst remaining legible at a glance. On the dial you will find the delicate, golden Neomatik lettering under the NOMOS signet, which not only enhances the beauty of the platinum grey dial but pays homage to the work of the watchmakers and engineers at the German based watch house. As with most NOMOS Glashütte watches, the design is gender-neutral, with size being the only difference. The Tangente Neomatik Platinum Gray comes in two diameters of 35mm and 39mm, allowing for comfort on wrists of all sizes.
When turning the watch over you are greeted with the beautifully decorated in-house calibre DUW 3001 which is viewed through the sapphire case back. This ultra-thin automatic movement incorporates a three-quarter plate construction and the NOMOS Swing System. Developed over a seven-year period, the NOMOS Swing System is the brands in-house version of the lever escapement and features an instantly recognisable tempered blue balance spring and fixed balance bridge, allowing the watch to remain incredibly robust and precise. Practicality has always remained an integral part of the NOMOS design philosophy, and this is no exception when it comes to the movement architecture. Measuring in at a slender height of 3.2mm, the DUW 3001 allows for these two watches to be made incredibly thin at just 6.9mm and 7.1mm respectively.
Remaining faithful to the brands DNA, the Tangente Platinum Gray is as elegantly casual as any modern watch; be it under a suit cuff, or on wrist paired with shorts and sliders, the Tangente Platinum Gray will be right at home whatever the occasion.
The NOMOS Tangente Neomatik Platinum Gray is available to purchase now from James Porter & Son with pricing starting at £2,760 for the 35mm and £2,880 for the 39mm.
