About DOXA Watches
Since 1889 DOXA watches have been designed and manufactured in Switzerland, with their award winning and innovative designs continually pushing the boundaries of watchmaking. The Greek word for glory, ‘DOXA’ has come to signify the splendour of timepieces with a reputation for value, quality and exceptional workmanship.
The brand was established by 21-year old Georges Ducommun, already an individual with a reputation for ingenuity and customer orientation. In 1905, his pocket watch was honoured at Belgium’s World Fair in the ‘Exposition Universelle et Internationale’ and his anti-magnetic DOXA watch won a gold medal at the Italian World Fair a year later.
Success continued as in 1907, Georges filed a patent for the ‘8-Day DOXA Caliber’, which then became standard Bugatti endurance racing car equipment. Following this success, the DOXA began appearing in other automotive, shipping and aviation instrument panels as standard.
In 1967 DOXA created the iconic SUB 300 PROFESSIONAL with its famous orange dial. The SUB 300 was a purpose-built, professional-grade, sports dive watch, developed with diving-legend Jacques-Yves Cousteau - and has been synonymous with the brand ever since.
