Prospex 1970 Diver's Modern Re-interpretation 'The Naomi Uemura' Limited Edition - SLA069

This timepiece is a modern re-interpretation of the ‘Uemura Diver’ – the 1970 Seiko Diver’s watch which proved itself in extreme conditions when worn by Japanese adventurer Naomi Uemura during his 12,000-kilometre Arctic Circle dogsled expedition.

By the age of 29, Naomi Uemura had climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn and in 1970 became the first Japanese mountaineer to summit Mount Everest. Just three months later, he reached the top of Denali in Alaska (then known as Mount McKinley) and thus became the first adventurer in the world to reach the tallest peaks on five continents.

The detailed design on the dial of this watch is inspired by Uemura’s ascent of Europe’s highest peak, Mont Blanc.

There are just 500 pieces of this timepiece available worldwide, accompanied by an exclusive box inscribed with a quote from Naomi Uemura himself: “When one dream is realized, other dreams will follow.” Powered by the in-house 8L35 mechanical calibre, the watch is water resistant up to 200m.
