'Hotaka Mountains' Spring Drive GMT - SBGE295

This watch design is inspired by the view from the Shinshu Watch Studio, where the Hotaka Mountains stand tall, formed by the volcanic activity of the past. With a height of over 3000m, they have steep slopes and rough cliffs from erosion by the wind, snow and ice.

The Grand Seiko watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is regularly represented in their designs – from engineering watch movements which emulate the smooth motion of time passing, to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature.

The dial of this model represents the incredible power of the Earth, through its green pattern. The highlands at Hotaka have a short summer, so the deep green colour reflects the vast vegetation on the rich mountainous soil.

This watch is powered by the unique in-house 9R66 calibre Spring Drive movement that generates energy like a traditional mechanical watch but combines this with an electronic regulator for superior precision and accuracy. The signature of Spring Drive is the smooth motion of its second hand which moves in a silent and beautiful glide motion, rather than the second tick of a quartz watch or the rapid beat of a mechanical watch. This is a GMT triple time zone model allowing its user to track three time zones at the same time with a 200m water resistance.
