This watch is a modern recreation of the original ‘Alpinist,’ first launched in 1959 exclusively for the Japanese market which was designed for Japanese ‘Yama-otoko’ mountain men; to be reliable in treacherous terrain. This 2021 recreation includes a protective leather bracelet, a key feature of the prototype, designed for comfort and to protect the wearer from the effects of cold metal on the skin in high altitudes. The design remains inherently practical – powered by the comfortable slim 6L movement with highly visible lumibrite on the dial and hands, easy to see in any light. Seiko Prospex watches are designed for sports lovers and adventure seekers whether in the water, in the sky or on land.
